Coachman Celebrates Being ‘Best of British’ Manufacturing.

Hull’s Coachman Caravans, one of the UK’s leading caravan manufacturers, has been listed alongside Denby, Marmite, Hovis, Aga and JCB as one of the best British manufacturing companies in James Fielding’s new book, Made in Britain – The Best of Quintessentially British Companies. Coachman is the only company in the region to appear in the book, which was published in November 2007, and can be purchased from all leading book retailers.
“We are absolutely delighted to be included in the book and are proud to be listed alongside some of the great names of British industry”, said Jim Hibbs, Managing Director of Coachman. “Our inclusion in the new volume, which is a celebration of the best of British manufacturing, is a testimony to the skill, craftsmanship and sheer hard work of the entire Coachman team.”

“We definitely aim to embody all of the values that James Fielding identifies as being the best of British, and work tirelessly to provide quality and reliability. This determination has resulted in our most successful year to date, with sales up 11% on last year. In addition we recently outsold most of our competitors at the NEC Caravan and Motorhome Show in October, by retailing £6 million in six days. And, not content to rest on our laurels, we have even higher hopes for 2008”.
Coachman Caravans was established in 1986 and continues to operate as one of the leading caravan manufacturers in the industry. The company employs 141 members of staff and is in the final stages of completing a 29,000 sq ft extension to their Sutton Fields factory. The company strives to produce caravans of the highest quality and provides a superior after sales service. Their range includes the Amara, Pastiche, VIP and Laser.

Coachman’s first apprentices reach milestone.
Coachman Caravans’ first ever apprentices have completed the preliminary phase of their apprenticeship programme.
This formal programme is designed to last three years in total and to give the apprentices a fully rounded knowledge of each department in the Coachman factory, by following a detailed programme of practical work.

Local builder appointed to complete final stage of Coachman’s extension
Coachman Caravans, one of the UK’s leading caravan manufacturers, has appointed local building contractor, John Thompson Developments Ltd, to complete the final phase of their £3.5 million factory extension.
