Coachman this year will embark on their first formal Apprenticeship Programme
Following their continued growth, Hull based Caravan manufacturers Coachman Caravan Company Limited, will this year embark upon their first formal Apprenticeship Programme.
Two school leavers will commence the three-year Apprenticeship in August 2007. Following a detailed programme of practical work within the factory, the Apprentices will also attend Hull College on a day release basis to formalise their learning. At the end of the programme, they will receive nationally recognised qualifications in carpentry and joinery, having also gained substantial work experience in one of the area’s leading caravan companies.
Prior to embarking upon the Apprenticeship programme, candidates will be invited to attend an open afternoon with members of their family. Coachman’s Managing Director, Jim Hibbs will host the open event, providing a tour of the factory, background to the Company and a thorough insight into the role and opportunities available to the Apprentices.
Leading the new Apprenticeship Programme are Production Director, Alan Roberts and Personnel Manager, Diane McDermid. “Here at Coachman we pride ourselves on quality and design and strive to make every Coachman caravan better than the last. With the highest commitment to staff and workforce development, Coachman have a long history of in-house skill development opportunities.”
Mr Roberts continued “In previous years a more informal programme of up-skilling employees has taken place, however, with a downturn in the local labour market, it became apparent that an Apprenticeship Programme is the way forward to invest in both the future of the Company and it’s employees”.
It is hoped that two further Apprentices will join the Company in August 2008 and develop into an annual recruitment programme.
