Callowtop – the perfect site to take your humans!

When it comes to caravan holidays, we dogs have pretty high standards. We like a nice, clean campsite with lots of space and it must be close to the open countryside so we can enjoy lots of long, wonderful walks. We also need a top of the range caravan with all our usual home comforts.

My caravan of choice is a Coachman Amara 570/6.  It has everything I require – lots of space for my doggie bed, and comfy sofas that you can just sink into after a hard day’s walking (not that I ever do of course . . . at least not when my humans are around!)

When selecting a campsite, however, we do have to consider the needs of our humans. They can get bored easily and, for some reason, need things to do inside when it’s raining. They also seem to require lots of different places to eat, particularly ones called pubs. (I only allow them to use ones that accept dogs.) Oh yes, and they need things called ‘facilities’.

So when I found Callowtop Holiday Park near just north of Ashbourne, I was absolutely delighted. It has four stars and has won lots of awards, including East Midlands Holiday Park of the Year. Most importantly, it meets my canine cravings for the great outdoors, being located in the Derbyshire Peak District National Park on the Tissington trail. Lots of lovely, long walks up hill and down dale for me!

But what about the humans? With a heated swimming pool, coarse fishing, table tennis, games facilities and cycle hire, they certainly won’t be without things to do on-site. There’s also a restaurant, shop, evening entertainment and even an on-site brewery – humans seem to like those.

Off-site, there are plenty of attractions close by, including Alton Towers, Gulliver’s Kingdom, Matlock Bath and the beautiful Bakewell, where they can enjoy a tart or two. However, they will of course want to spend most of their time with their canines out in the beautiful, open countryside.

So if you are looking for a great campsite to take your humans, I can heartily recommend Callowtop. For more information, take a look at their website.

You’d be barking mad not to!
