Coachman Caravans Takes on Two Local Apprentices
Posted: 12/01/2012 Author: Jackie ShipleyFollowing the success of its original apprentice programme, local caravan manufacturer Coachman Caravans has taken on two new apprentices for 2012, David Prenty and Craig Cook.
David, 17, from Hull, and Craig, 16, from Beverley, will now complete a three-year training programme with Coachman. They were chosen for the roles thanks to their standout performances at Hull College, where they are currently studying for Construction Diplomas in carpentry and joinery.
Over the course of the apprenticeships, David and Craig will receive supervision and mentoring from experienced members of staff in each department of the business, to ensure they have all the skills necessary to succeed in the caravan industry.
In addition to plenty of hands-on training, the apprentices will continue studying for Construction Diplomas at Hull College on a day release programme each week.
Alan Roberts, Production Director of Coachman, said:
“We’re really pleased to welcome Craig and David to Coachman, and I look forward to seeing them develop their skills. Hopefully, they can follow in the footsteps of our last apprentices, and gain full time roles.
“Whenever possible, we look to recruit young people from the local area, and provide them with a comprehensive in-house programme of training that will give them all the skills they need to be successful within the caravan industry.”
Despite the economic downturn, and the challenges and uncertainties facing the industry, Coachman has enjoyed a positive start to the 2012 season, following the release of a revolutionary new range of Caravans. These have proved popular amongst consumers, dealers and industry journalists alike, and the company is cautiously optimistic about the coming year.
