As part of a talk at a City of Culture event, Martin Green spoke about the local economy and employment and how some of the city’s thriving industries, such as caravan manufacturing, can integrate with the arts and cultural celebrations in 2017.
With the City of Culture set to create 3,000 jobs and bring an estimated £60m to the city, Coachman is backing plans that will have a positive impact on Hull’s economy.
Coachman Executive Chairman, Jim Hibbs said:
“We were delighted to hear Martin Green talk about the caravan industry in his plans for 2017. It is important that the whole city will not just spectate but participate, and we strongly support his idea of linking our sector with culture in any way we can.
“The year is a fantastic opportunity to raise the profile of our city and our industry, which will have obvious benefits for the local economy and employment – two things we are passionate about here at Coachman.
“Currently, we employ 170 members of staff and we are keen to grow our business and increase this with a rapidly growing apprenticeship program. That’s why we’ve been investing heavily in the wider development of the company, expanding our production facility and introducing state-of-the-art equipment. Not only are we investing in the future of our business, but in the caravan industry and Hull too, demonstrating a growth in confidence within the sector and the city we all live and work in.”
